We talk to author Alexis Hunter about her book Joi Lansing:A Body To Die For..A LOVE STORY, and whatta story. Joi Lansing was a sex symbol of the 50's and 60's. Alex met Joi on a z movie about bikers and Bigfoot. Alex was a lady bigfoot. She and Joi talked a lot and became friends. After the film finished shooting Alex was go go dancing at a dive and Asked Joi to come see her. She did, told Alex lets get out of this dump. They went back to Jois apartment and Alex never left. Joi was straight but the two fell in love. Alex was 21 Joi was 40. Forty was the death knell for sex symbols in Hollywood. Joi would often get depressed and take handfulls of pills and wash them down with bourbon. One night she attempted to jump off her balcony. Alex ended up saving her from the fall. After that Joi stopped drinking. This is a beautiful love story with a tragic ending. It is a great book which shows us love is love. Straight, gay, bi, love is love. Treasure it when you find it. Also its a warning about the dangers of silicone. Joy would get it shot directly into her breasts. Once Alex went with her and paid the price later on. This story is funny, loving, sad but ultimately a tribute to the woman Alex loved and was with until Jois last breath. It also will make you hungry and get second hand insomnia from all the coffeee they drank. I would encourage anyone to read this book. She has nothing but 5 star ratings on amazon and its well deserved. She will be talking to seniors in High School about her book. Her message: love is love. We loved Alex. Its a really good listen. Grab a cup of coffee or vino and have a listen.
